KOO APPLE AND DATE DUMPLINGS

KOO APPLE AND DATE DUMPLINGS

Ingredients:

  • 1 can KOO Sliced Pie Apples , drained and roughly chopped
  • 500 ml (280 g) Golden Cloud Cake Flour
  • 55 ml Milk
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 ml Salt
  • 20 ml Baking Powder
  • 100 g Dates, finely chopped
  • 50 ml Butter
  • 25 ml Butter, for cooking
  • Cinnamon Sugar, for dusting

Kitchen gadgets:

Large pot, Slotted spoon, Mixing bowl

Method:

  1. Sift the dry ingredients together. Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Toss the pie apple slices, and chopped dates through the flour mixture to evenly coat. Set aside.
  2. Beat the egg and milk together, stir into the flour mixture and mix into a soft dough. Add extra milk if necessary.
  3. Fill a saucepan 3 cm deep with boiling water, add 25 ml butter, and bring to the boil. Place spoonfuls of dough in the boiling water. Cover with lid and allow to boil for 15 minutes. Do not remove lid while cooking.
  4. Remove dumplings with a slotted spoon and place into serving dish.
  5. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
  6. Bring the water in which the dumplings were cooked to the boil again. Add 30 ml cinnamon sugar and pour over dumplings. More water can be added if necessary.
  7. Pour the sauce over the dumplings and serve.
